Terroir, a French term that translates to “soil,” refers to the natural environment where something is produced — a perfect reflection of Syd’s journey as a potter. Working exclusively with recycled clay, she crafts unique pieces that blend textures and colors, making each one truly one-of-a-kind.

Syd grew up in Palm Springs - quite literally in the dirt - and first discovered her passion for pottery when her parents opened The Hard Clay Cafe, a paint-it-yourself ceramics shop. This love for art, design, and hands-on creation carried her across the country to New York City, only to bring her back to her California roots.

Now working from her Los Angeles studio, Syd handcrafts every piece, allowing the clay's natural origins to shine through in each detail.
